How to Earn Pearl Badges
Discover how your home can gain recognition with Pearl Badges for specific high-performing achievements.
Pearl recognizes other specific performance achievements with badges, which provide additional acknowledgment for particular attributes of a home. Currently, Pearl offers two distinct badges:
- An Electrified Home Badge: This badge documents when a home has no fossil fuel usage on the property (internal, such as a natural gas furnace, or external, such as a propane-fueled pool heater), with the exception of dual-fuel heat pumps in Climate Zones 5-8. In these cases, the heat pump backup heating system must have at least 90% AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency).
- A Solar Badge: Solar-powered homes can earn the Solar Badge, which signifies a home is at least partly powered by renewable energy.
Here's how a home can earn these Pearl Badges:
- Review Badge Criteria: Understand the specific requirements for each badge. For the Electrified Home badge, ensure no fossil fuel usage on the property (with the exception of specified dual-fuel heat pumps). For the Solar Badge, ensure the home has a solar photovoltaic (PV) system.
- Document Home’s Features: Gather evidence of the features that qualify the home. Once the home’s documents have been collected, a badge may be earned by:
- Working with a Pearl-Recognized Professional: A Pearl-Recognized Professional can help assess and document the home's features.
- Working in the Pearl app: The Pearl app has instructions for homeowners to update their home’s features.
- Pearl's Review and Badge Issuance: Pearl will review the documentation. Once approved, the home will be awarded the appropriate badge(s).
Exciting News for 2025 and 2026: Pearl is planning to introduce additional badges in 2025 and 2026, further expanding the opportunities for homeowners to be recognized for their home’s exceptional features and performance.
